New statistics confirm an increase in Libyan and Syrian asylum seekers in the UK this year.

The Government is going ahead with its proposal to cut legal aid for the refugees and asylum seekers. Calling for reconsideration of the proposals, the organisations working for their welfare believe the action will eventually leave some of the most vulnerable people in society, including asylum seekers and refugees, without access to justice.

In fact, the Government’s decision to ignores calls to keep legal aid for vulnerable groups has evoked sharp response.
The Government has made it clear that the “legacy cases” cases will be looked at afresh every six months.

The UK Border officials have lost track of 124,000 asylum seekers and migrants; and have laced the cases in a ‘controlled archive’ for applicants who cannot be contacted by them.

Refugee Action was first established on October 26, 1981, making 2011 its 30th anniversary year.
This widely respected charity has been supporting refugees and asylum seekers rebuild their lives in the UK for the last thirty years, raising awareness on their plight and making their voice heard.
